Guest Interviews n°3: Diane Pernet

Describe your typical day
There really is no typical day. It depends if I am in Paris or somewhere else on the planet. I get up fairly early, check my e mails, have a cup of tea and then it really depends on many things if I have appointments, shows, etc.
You are in the fashion’s world since a long time. What has changed in your opinion? I mean for good or bad…
The past decade has focused on business men controlling the design of collections and more interest in communications than the actual product. I think all of that is changing now with the crisis. Hopefully a lot of fashion pollution will disappear and core values like design, good manufacturing, respect for craftsmenship will come back.
Do you miss your past design career?
No, it was my passion for 13 years.
What irritates you most related to the fashion industy today?
How some people with very little talent get very far because they or their family are friends with someone in a position of power.
Talking about the actual fashion photography… what do we have more compared to the old Newton’s black & white?
More than photography, we have video.
Where do you take inspiration for your look?
Inside my head.
Paris or New York?
Definitely Paris.
