THE BEATLES & COMME des GARCONS

THE BEATLES appears to begin to make a noise again after 40 years’ absence. The band has released the re-mastered albums for all time of the band, which resulted in another astonishing success all over the world.

This winter, the dream collaboration has just been realized. The most popular rock’n’roll meets the fashion avant-garde star COMME DES GARCONS in Tokyo. It was a fashion shoot for Italian L’UOMO VOGUE this spring I first met YOKO ONO the meadow of JOHN LENNON. She is very civil and open-minded as recognized highly respected contemporary artist. It was totally out of blue that I turned into getting involved in this very unique collaboration after merely a few months from the encounter to her. There was a very big question at the very beginning; How to transfer the image of THE BEATLES in contemporary fashion with the profound respect to the style of icon over the decades till now.

This is the answer given by REI KAWAKUBO. She takes out the green apple as the most iconic essence of THE BEATLES and mixes with her favourite black & white dot-pattern. The collection has a strong sense of Pop Art, like Andy Warhol or Damien Hirst as the green apples pop out from the monotone wardrobes. The dream collaboration has already launched in Tokyo in November and will be launched in Dover Street Market in London shortly.
